Domestic Violence
Domestic abuse also known as intimate partner violence, can occur even in seemingly "perfect" relationships across all genders and socioeconomic statuses. The Center for Disease Control (2017) recognizes four main types of intimate partner violence:
-
Physical violence
-
Sexual violence (including unwanted sexual contact and non-contact unwanted sexual experiences)
-
Stalking
-
Psychological aggression (including aggressive language, coercive control, and threats of violence)
Know that if you or someone you love are a victim of the abuse there are local and online resources to help.
