Medication Management
Referred to as psychopharmacology, advanced practice nurses are board certified to prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications. Medications may be a recommended part of the treatment plan and based on a comprehensive assessment. Decisions are evidence based and in accordance with current guidelines.
Evaluation and Consultation
Clinicians conduct diagnostic assessments, which include developmental, behavioral, educational, and family history. Following the assessment, recommendations for specific interventions, such as medications or other specialty treatments may be recommended.
Therapy
Clinicians are trained therapists and have worked with individuals, couples, and families. Often, therapy is incorporated into the medication appointment. Treatment modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and behavioral activation. Examples of complementary interventions (which are often recommended) include yoga, meditation, exercise and maintaining adequate sleep/nutrition.

Genetic Testing
"Before you try another medication, try asking your DNA." Clinicians perform DNA testing to obtain genetic data regarding medication metabolism. DNA testing is quick, easy, and can be performed either in the home or in the office. Clinicians receive a report showing how your genes may impact the effectiveness of different medications. Once the report is reviewed, clinicians can create a medication plan that works with your specific metabolism. For more information on Genesight testing, click here:
